You couldn’t wait ONE more day to get those miners out?

Seriously, can’t a brother catch a break? I’m sitting here with my Flip MinoHD 120min Camcorder and a plane ticket to Santiago… for tonight. Those guys had been down there for what, eight years? They could’ve done another 24 hours like it was nothing.

As far as I know, nobody even told the miners that my 720p HD footage of their touching reunion with their families was going to be my ticket to YouTube fame. I’m sure they would’ve understood. By now, they’re nothing if not patient. And after everything the world has done to help those guys, I bet they would’ve loved to return the favor by staging some weepy hugs for my MinoHD. Expressing gratitude is very important in Chilean culture, especially among Chileans who have just been rescued from a collapsed copper mine.

But they never got the chance to do me that favor. Sorry, guys. I guess this rescue had to be pulled off according to the lamestream media’s timetable. Oh, no, Big Journalism had PLENTY of time to get their fancy cameras in place. Nobody even gave a thought to the plucky, young(ish) upstart with a MinoHD and a dream. I swear, some people have no consideration for others.
